Former Member of Parliament for Adentan, Kojo Adu Asare, has appealed to the family of the late highlife icon Daddy Lumba to take intentional steps to protect and sustain his musical legacy for generations to come.
Mr. Adu Asare stressed that Daddy Lumba’s extraordinary impact on Ghana’s music industry should be preserved far beyond memorial services and funeral ceremonies. He suggested the creation of a museum in the musician’s honour, where items such as his instruments, personal effects, and highlights of his life and career could be displayed for the public.
“I want my children to grow up knowing that this man lived a meaningful and fulfilled life,” he said. “There should be a place where people can see where he slept, the instruments he played, and truly understand his journey. He does not yet have a book, and the family should consider documenting his life story.”
He further noted that proactive management of Daddy Lumba’s legacy would not only celebrate his achievements but also secure lasting benefits for his children and future generations.
At the same event, Kojo Adu Asare made a donation to Odo Broni and her children, reaffirming his continued support for them.
Daddy Lumba was laid to rest in the Ashanti Region on December 13, 2025, after a series of court proceedings involving his maternal family.
