Papaya Ex Defends Bobrisky, Says His Lifestyle Is Temporary

Nigerian social media influencer Papaya Ex, whose real name is Abike Halima Raheem, has sparked fresh online conversations following her comments about popular cross-dresser and internet personality Bobrisky.

Papaya Ex made the remarks during a recent interview on Yanga 89.9 FM, a Lagos-based radio station known for its Pidgin English programming. In the interview, she openly defended Bobrisky amid the persistent criticism surrounding his lifestyle and gender expression.

Addressing listeners, Papaya Ex stated that many of the reactions toward Bobrisky are unnecessary, describing his current lifestyle as a phase rather than a permanent identity. According to her, people should exercise tolerance and refrain from harsh judgment.

She remarked that Bobrisky is “just having fun” and suggested that, with time, he may return to living as a father. Emphasizing personal growth and change, Papaya Ex noted that individuals evolve over time and should be allowed the freedom to live without constant scrutiny or negativity.

Her comments drew attention largely because of her history with Bobrisky. The two have previously been involved in public disputes, including social media clashes and accusations of rivalry within the entertainment space. Despite their past disagreements, Papaya Ex appeared to set aside old differences, choosing instead to promote positivity and understanding.

Bobrisky, born Idris Okuneye, remains one of Nigeria’s most controversial online figures. He is widely known for his flamboyant lifestyle, cross-dressing, and outspoken personality. In recent years, he has openly identified as a transgender woman and has shared details about cosmetic procedures and his relocation to the United Kingdom, which he describes as a move made for personal peace and freedom.

However, opinions about Bobrisky remain deeply divided in Nigeria, where cultural and legal attitudes toward LGBTQ+ issues are still highly conservative. Papaya Ex’s remarks have therefore added another layer to the ongoing public discourse surrounding identity, personal freedom, and societal expectations.

By urging people to focus on positivity rather than criticism, Papaya Ex’s comments have reignited debate while also highlighting a more tolerant perspective within Nigeria’s entertainment and influencer community.
