Police Arrest 101 Suspects in Targeted Operation in Accra

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested 101 individuals during a series of targeted operations as part of the Christmas Special Operations throughout the region. These operations were aimed at enhancing security during the festive season.

The arrests took place in known crime-prone areas, including Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Nungua, Adabraka, Achimota, East Legon, and the Railways enclave. These efforts followed intelligence-driven patrols and stop-and-search operations conducted by police personnel.

According to the Police Command, the operation is part of nationwide security measures to curb crime, maintain public safety, and uphold law and order as residents celebrate Christmas and the upcoming New Year festivities.

### Annual Christmas Special Operations

The Christmas Special Operations are a routine initiative by the Ghana Police Service, involving increased day and night patrols, snap checkpoints, raids on criminal hideouts, and cooperation with other security agencies. This initiative is designed to prevent crimes such as armed robbery, drug trafficking, and assault, which typically rise during the festive season.

Police sources reported that the suspects were arrested for various offenses, including possession of narcotic substances, involvement in robbery-related activities, unlawful assembly, and other suspected criminal activities.

### Items Seized and Ongoing Investigations

Several items were confiscated during the operations, and these are currently being examined as part of ongoing investigations. The police have focused their efforts on busy commercial hubs and high-traffic areas, where criminal activity tends to surge during the holiday season.

At present, all 101 suspects are in police custody, where they are assisting with investigations. They will be processed according to the law.
