Police Arrest Nigerian Woman in Connection to Spintex Dawn Robbery, Stolen Items Recovered

 

Police have arrested a Nigerian woman involved in a robbery that occurred at dawn in the Spintex area of Accra, where a 35-year-old man was robbed of cash, gold jewelry, and other valuables.

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, confirmed that the incident took place in the early hours of September 14, 2025. At approximately 3:25 a.m., the suspects broke into the victim's residence, stealing gold jewelry, a laptop, wristwatches, handbags, clothing, and cash—totaling $5,000 and GH¢21,645.

The police recovered several items believed to have been left behind by the suspects, including a machete, a metal cutter, and a T-shirt.

Following an intelligence tip-off, the police arrested the primary suspect, Jennifer Nweke, at Adenta on September 18. During her arrest, investigators recovered some of the stolen property, including jewelry, mobile phones, and cash. Additionally, Nweke guided police to various hideouts, leading to further recoveries. In Agbogba, more stolen items were retrieved, and additional searches in Glefe and near a rubbish dump uncovered a Philippine passport, two women’s purses containing business and ATM cards, and a bag of travel documents.

The authorities are continuing their efforts to apprehend other suspects connected to the robbery. COP Donkor confirmed that those in custody, including Nweke, are cooperating with the investigation and will be brought before the courts once legal procedures are complete.
