The Central Regional Police Command has arrested seven individuals in a coordinated operation aimed at curbing the sale and use of narcotic drugs within the Cape Coast Metropolis.
The intelligence-led operation was conducted on Saturday, December 13, 2025, and focused on known drug bases and areas identified as hotspots for drug peddling and consumption.
The suspects arrested are Robert Kobbina, Abu Issifu, Janet Mensah, Emmanuel Quarshie, Osei Boateng, Animful Emmanuel, and Charity Nkrumah.
Police officers first raided a known drug base at Effutu, where Robert Kobbina and Abu Issifu were apprehended. A search conducted on Kobbina led to the recovery of various suspected narcotic substances and related items, including sachets and tablets believed to be timaking, Tdrona, and “royal fart,” dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, as well as tobacco products, lighters, and assorted cigarette packs.
The operation was subsequently extended to Poly Amisano and Nkanfoa, areas also identified as active drug peddling zones. At Poly Amisano, officers arrested Janet Mensah, Emmanuel Quarshie, Osei Boateng, Animful Emmanuel, and Charity Nkrumah.
A search at a drinking spot operated by Janet Mensah resulted in the seizure of large quantities of cigarettes, tobacco products, lighters, and three jackpot gaming machines. An additional four jackpot gaming machines were confiscated during the operation at Nkanfoa.
All seven suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations. The Central Regional Police Command has assured the public that individuals found culpable will be prosecuted, as the police intensify efforts to combat narcotic-related activities in the metropolis.
