Prof. Titus Beyuo Urges Public to Avoid Attributing Political Motives to EC and OSP Petitions

Member of Parliament for Lambussie, Prof. Titus Beyuo, has called on the public to refrain from attributing political motives to the 10 petitions submitted to the Presidency, which seek the removal of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng and Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa.

In an appearance on Channel One TV’s *Breakfast Daily* on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Prof. Beyuo criticized the growing claims that the petitions were orchestrated from within the Jubilee House. He described such allegations as “unfortunate” and baseless, stressing that they could undermine public confidence in the nation’s accountability processes.

“No individual or group should impugn motives or spread unfounded rumors while the constitutional procedure for handling petitions is already underway,” he said. “These individuals are not guilty yet, and no prima facie case has been established against any of them.”

Prof. Beyuo also emphasized that President John Mahama has no personal interest in targeting any of the officeholders involved. “I am confident His Excellency has no personal vendetta against them, and he will not involve himself directly in the matter. Any decision made will be guided by the law,” he added.

His comments come after it was confirmed that the Office of the President had received 10 separate petitions from private citizens calling for the removal of Special Prosecutor Agyebeng, Jean Mensa, and her two deputies. The petitions reportedly allege misconduct, with Agyebeng specifically accused of incompetence and abuse of office.

All petitions have been forwarded to the Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, who will determine whether there is a prima facie case to justify further action.
