Shatta Wale Warns Promoters: “I’ll Charge $2 Million If I’m Scheduled to Perform Last

Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has issued a strong warning to event organisers, stating that he will charge significantly higher fees if he is billed as the last performer at concerts.

The award-winning musician made this declaration during his performance at the GT Music Concert, where he reportedly mounted the stage at about 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025. Addressing the audience, Shatta Wale expressed frustration over what he described as the unnecessary delay and inconvenience caused to his fans when he is scheduled to perform last.

According to the artiste, event organisers often keep his supporters waiting for hours, despite the fact that many attend shows primarily to watch him perform. As a result, he said he has decided to increase his performance fee under such circumstances.

“If they ever organise a show and schedule me as the last performer, I will charge the promoter $2 million,” Shatta Wale told the crowd. “Nobody should waste the time of my fans. You all have other things to do.”

His remarks were met with loud cheers from fans at the venue.

The comments have since sparked widespread discussion on social media after a video of the moment surfaced online. Many users shared mixed reactions, with some applauding Shatta Wale for standing up for his fans, while others questioned whether headline acts should not typically perform last at major concerts.

Industry observers note that Shatta Wale is often billed as the final performer because a significant number of concertgoers tend to leave immediately after his set. Promoters, therefore, place him at the end of programmes to maintain crowd numbers throughout events.

Despite the differing opinions, Shatta Wale’s statement has once again highlighted ongoing debates about event scheduling, artist billing, and respect for audiences within Ghana’s entertainment industry.
