Presidential staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah has criticized Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson Jean Mensa, accusing her of consistently ignoring the concerns of political parties during her tenure.
Speaking on the *JoyNews AM Show*, Jantuah described Mensa’s actions as "misbehavior" and a lack of responsiveness to issues raised by electoral stakeholders. "If you talk about misbehavior, she misbehaved; Jean did not do well," Jantuah said, emphasizing that Mensa’s indifference to electoral concerns has been evident throughout her time at the helm of the EC.
Jantuah added that political parties had repeatedly taken their concerns to court, but according to her, Jean Mensa has shown no interest in addressing or resolving these issues. "We will take the issues we are not happy about to court, and Jean doesn’t even care," Jantuah stated. "We want to have a discussion with her on matters pertaining to elections; she doesn’t care."
The presidential staffer stressed that her critique was based on facts rather than personal animosity. "It’s not that I’m bringing her down, but that is the truth," she asserted.
Jantuah also pointed out dissatisfaction within the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), citing instances where even members of the party’s representation on the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) were unhappy with Mensa’s leadership. She suggested that the ongoing issues reflect a broader credibility challenge facing the EC under her leadership.
