Two Chinese Nationals Abducted as Bandit Attacks Escalate in Kwara State

Fear has intensified across Kwara State following a string of violent attacks and kidnappings that have left many communities on edge.

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, two Chinese nationals working on the BUA road construction project along the Bode Saadu–Kaiama–Kosubosu road were abducted in the early hours of December 1. Masked gunmen reportedly stormed the site, firing shots for hours before taking the victims to an unknown location.

This incident adds to a growing security crisis in the state. Only days earlier, six farmers were kidnapped in the Lata community of Patigi Local Government Area. Residents said the latest attack was swift and well-coordinated, triggering panic and causing many villagers to flee for safety.

In another disturbing event, bandits allegedly chased laborers off a farm on Tuesday and stole a seven-month-old Haojue motorcycle belonging to a local businessman.

The rising wave of violence across Kwara South and North has left residents claiming that terrorists now move freely without resistance. Farmers are particularly affected, with many expressing fears that they may soon be forced to abandon their farmlands altogether.

These recent incidents come on the heels of earlier attacks in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area, where armed men abducted a farmer just a week after 38 worshippers of the Christ Apostolic Church were released by the federal government.

As insecurity worsens, residents are calling on the government and security agencies to act urgently to restore peace. Many warn that without immediate intervention, entire communities may become unsafe and uninhabitable.

Farming, local businesses, and the livelihoods of countless families remain under severe threat as fear continues to spread across the state.
