Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has paid warm tribute to Ghana’s farming community as the nation marks National Farmers’ Day today, December 5, 2025. In a message shared on her social media platforms, she acknowledged the dedication, resilience, and essential contributions of farmers to Ghana’s development.
“Today, we honour the men and women whose hard work feeds our nation and sustains our daily lives. We celebrate the food you produce, the dignity of your labour, and the hope you plant in every season,” she stated.
The Vice President highlighted the pivotal role of women in agriculture, recognising their daily sacrifices and the critical support they provide to families and communities across the country.
“I want to acknowledge, especially, the many women who go to the farms each day to provide for their families. You inspire us to build a system that supports you, protects you, and expands your opportunities,” she added.
Reaffirming the Government’s commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector, she assured farmers of continued efforts to improve market access, enhance livelihoods, and ensure fair and dignified working conditions.
“On Farmers’ Day, we reaffirm our gratitude and our responsibility. Government will continue to pursue policies that strengthen agriculture, ensure fair returns, and create dignified conditions,” she noted.
The Vice President concluded her message with well-wishes to farmers nationwide: “May God bless our homeland and the farmers who cultivate its soil.”
National Farmers’ Day, celebrated annually on the first Friday of December, recognises the invaluable contributions of farmers and fishermen to Ghana’s economy and national development.
