Obuasi-based entrepreneur and philanthropist, Dr. Collins Amo, has made a significant impact in the Adansi enclave by supporting two critical sectors—healthcare and education. His recent contributions include donating 5,000 locally manufactured baby diapers to various health facilities and rebuilding an entire school block that was destroyed by fire.

Dr. Amo, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Aduro Ye Herbal, the makers of Obuasi Bitters and Obuasi Baby Diapers, presented the diapers to several key institutions, including St. Jude Hospital, Obuasi Government Hospital, SDA Hospital, Bryant Mission Hospital, and the AGA Health Foundation. This donation is part of a broader initiative to improve maternal and child healthcare in both the Obuasi East and Obuasi West Municipalities.

"Supporting sectors like healthcare, particularly when it comes to mothers and newborns, is a key part of our corporate social responsibility," Dr. Amo stated during the presentation. He emphasized that the locally made diapers would help relieve pressure on health facilities while benefiting families in need.

Health officials from the recipient institutions welcomed the donation, describing it as timely and in line with ongoing efforts to enhance maternal and infant care services.

This donation follows Dr. Amo’s recent reconstruction of the Pomposo R/C Primary B school block, which was destroyed by fire last year. Responding to an urgent appeal from school authorities, Dr. Amo funded the complete rebuild, which included new staff offices, washrooms, a headteacher’s office, and a fully refurbished classroom block.

As a former student of the school, Dr. Amo expressed his commitment to community development and quality education. "As an alumnus of the school and a responsible corporate citizen, I felt it was important to step in and help rebuild the structure. It’s not just the government’s job; we must all do our part," he said.

In addition to rebuilding the school, Dr. Amo replaced all the lost teaching and learning materials, including textbooks, laptops, computers, TVs, and printers—items originally provided by the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation.

Kwabena Owusu Nketia, the Obuasi East Municipal Director of Education, commended Dr. Amo for his unwavering support of the community, calling his contributions a prime example of meaningful corporate citizenship.

Regina Ocansey, the headmistress of Pomposo R/C Primary B, expressed immense gratitude for Dr. Amo's intervention, which rescued the school from a year-long struggle after the fire. "We were left in a tough spot after the fire, but now, thanks to Dr. Amo, we’re back on track," she said.

Dr. Amo's recent initiatives are part of his broader commitment to philanthropy, which includes supporting widows, orphanages, and a generous 200,000 cedi donation to the Heal KATH project—an effort that earned him public recognition last year.
