Apostle Lilian Kumah Breaks Silence, Issues Stern Warning to Critics Amid Remarriage Controversy

Apostle Lilian Kumah Aryeequaye has ignited widespread debate after delivering a fiery sermon in which she issued a strong warning to critics following her recent remarriage.

The founder and leader of the Disciples of Christ Ministries (DOCM) has faced intense public scrutiny since news broke that she had remarried in December 2025, roughly a year and a half after the death of her first husband, former Ejisu Member of Parliament, John Kumah. While many offered congratulations, others— including some members of her late husband’s family—expressed displeasure, arguing that the remarriage came too soon.

In a sermon delivered at the DOCM headquarters in Weija, Accra, and later shared on the church’s official TikTok page on January 5, 2026, Apostle Lilian addressed the backlash directly. She dismissed claims that any spiritual force, curse, or scheme could harm her, asserting that she operates under divine authority.

“We have been given dominion over the earth,” she told her congregation. “No river, atmosphere, wind, or element can be used to curse me. Nothing in this world has power over me because we are in charge.”

Her remarks quickly went viral, sparking renewed debate on social media over faith, personal choice, and societal expectations placed on widows.

The controversy began on Friday, December 19, 2025, when it emerged that Apostle Lilian had married Samuel Aryeequaye in a private ceremony held in Obuasi. The marriage came less than two years after the death of John Kumah, who passed away on March 7, 2024, after falling ill while visiting his constituency and dying en route to Accra.

Despite the criticism, Apostle Lilian has remained defiant, using the pulpit to reinforce her stance and encourage her followers to stand firm in their faith regardless of public opinion.

This is not the first time the outspoken preacher has made headlines in recent months. In December 2025, during a watchnight service, she also issued a prophecy warning of potential danger facing Ghana in 2026, calling on citizens to pray for the nation and its leadership.

As reactions continue to pour in, Apostle Lilian Kumah Aryeequaye’s sermon has further cemented her position as a polarising yet influential religious figure in Ghana’s public space.
