Ghanaian musician and outspoken media personality Blakk Rasta has provided an update on the health status of detained Swedru-based businessman Abu Trica, following public concern arising from his recent court appearance.
Abu Trica, whose real name is Frederick Kumi, was arrested on Thursday, December 11, 2025, by a joint operation involving Ghanaian security agencies and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). According to an unsealed indictment issued by the United States Department of Justice, he faces charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering conspiracy, and forfeiture specifications. If found guilty, he could face a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
The businessman, widely known on social media for flaunting an extravagant lifestyle, is alleged to be part of an organised criminal syndicate accused of defrauding elderly Americans through romance scam schemes.
Court Appearance and Health Concerns
On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, Abu Trica appeared before the Gbese District Court alongside two alleged accomplices, Lord Eshun and Bernard Aidoo, as part of proceedings related to his possible extradition to the United States. Videos from the courtroom, which later circulated online, showed him arriving in handcuffs under heavy security, with his face partially covered by a dark cloth.
The court denied bail to all three accused persons and remanded them into police custody. The case was adjourned to Tuesday, January 13, 2026. Following the hearing, reports emerged suggesting that the adjournment was partly influenced by concerns about Abu Trica’s health after he reportedly became unwell in court, prompting the judge to order that he be given medical attention.
Blakk Rasta’s Health Update
In a video shared on January 2, 2026, via the TikTok page Blakk Empire Media, Blakk Rasta addressed the growing speculation surrounding Abu Trica’s health. He disclosed that the businessman had complained of a toothache prior to his arrest and that his legal team brought this matter before the court.
According to Blakk Rasta, the court subsequently ordered a medical examination, which was conducted at the Police Hospital. He stated that medical professionals found no serious health issues and declared Abu Trica medically fit. He added that there were no outstanding medical concerns and emphasised that the legal process would continue without delay, noting that Abu Trica would face the full rigour of the law.
Reaction from Abu Trica’s Partner
In a related development, Abu Trica’s partner, Queenie Abena Oforiwaa, has publicly reacted to his arrest. On Wednesday, December 31, 2025, she shared a message of hope and encouragement on her TikTok story as the new year approached.
The case continues to attract significant public attention as investigations and legal proceedings progress, with the next court hearing scheduled for mid-January 2026.
