IGP Promotes 30 Police Officers in Ashanti Region for Outstanding Service

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has approved the promotion of 30 police officers in the Ashanti Region in recognition of their exemplary conduct during critical security operations.

The promotions, announced on January 5, 2026, honor officers whose professionalism, vigilance, and dedication significantly enhanced crime prevention and public safety, particularly during the Christmas festive season.

In a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service, the officers were commended for their roles in two major operations. The first operation occurred at the Kantanso Asankare Police Barrier, where officers intercepted a bus transporting 2,600 rounds of AK-47 ammunition. A subsequent search led to the recovery of a bag concealed beneath the driver’s seat containing two bulletproof plates, a black helmet, and a pair of long boots.

Officers promoted for their involvement in this operation are:

Chief Inspector Tibim Acheampong Solomon

Inspector Sarfo Adu Daniel

General Lance Corporal Saeed Frimpong

General Constable Sremsei Simon

Policewoman Constable Kissi Dorcas Serwaah

General Constable Arthur Emmanuel Nkrumah

General Constable Dennis Danquah

General Constable Philip Lawer Nyarko

General Constable Owusu Kenneth

General Constable Christian Buaben

Kwadzo Addo

The second operation was an intelligence-led exercise involving 20 officers drawn from the Ashanti and Ashanti South Regional Police Commands. Their coordinated efforts led to the dismantling of a robbery syndicate operating along the Antoakrom–Manso Nkwanta stretch. The operation resulted in the seizure of firearms and ammunition and successfully thwarted planned attacks on commuters during the festive season.

The Police Management Board praised the officers for their courage, alertness, and commitment to duty, noting that their actions prevented dangerous weapons from falling into the hands of criminals. The IGP urged all personnel to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and assured them that dedication and hard work would continue to be recognized and rewarded.

These promotions form part of a broader series of commendations by the police administration. In September, 11 officers were promoted for their roles in dismantling a robbery gang linked to rural bank robberies following a six-month intelligence operation that led to the arrest of 10 suspects. Earlier, in August, two officers were also promoted for rescuing robbery victims and apprehending suspects during operations in the Greater Accra and Eastern regions.

The latest promotions underscore the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to rewarding excellence and strengthening professionalism within the service.
