Blakk Rasta has expressed his deep frustration and anger over the persistent issue of illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, in Ghana. Speaking on the Voice of the Patriot segment of the Urban Blend show on 3FM, an interview that was monitored by MyNewsGh, Blakk Rasta voiced his concerns about the way galamsey has become a political tool, with politicians using it as a means to secure votes, only for the destruction of the nation’s natural resources to persist once they are in power.
He described galamsey as a “reward system for foot soldiers” who ravage the country’s forests and contaminate its water bodies. He called for immediate and decisive action to halt the devastation.
The outspoken media personality also criticized political leaders for offering only empty promises. “I’m tired of hearing lip service from presidents and ministers. We need action right now!” he stated emphatically. He went on to highlight the grave dangers posed by the government’s failure to address the issue, pointing out that the pollution of water bodies is reaching dangerously high levels of toxicity.
“We are sitting ducks, just waiting for our destruction. These criminals are killing us slowly,” Blakk Rasta added. He further accused the government of responding with a level of cowardice that threatens the nation’s survival.
Blakk Rasta raised a key question: “Why can we chase petty criminals but not these dangerous galamsey criminals?” He called for stronger, more effective measures, insisting that only swift and harsh enforcement will safeguard Ghana’s future from the ongoing environmental disaster caused by illegal mining.
