Journalist Claims Kennedy Agyapong's Allegations Inspired NDC’s 'Operation Recover All Loot' Campaign
A recent revelation has surfaced regarding the origin of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagship campaign slogan, "Operation Recover All Loot" (ORAL). Journalist Kwaku Dawuro has suggested that the campaign message was indirectly inspired by former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, who had accused members of his own party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), of corruption.
During an appearance on the Movement in the Morning Political Show, Dawuro explained that the slogan gained prominence after Agyapong publicly alleged that certain NPP officials were involved in the misappropriation of state resources. One notable accusation involved Mr. Henry Quartey, whom Agyapong claimed had stolen government land and sold one of the plots to him, an action that led to significant controversy.
Dawuro further pointed out that Agyapong's allegations captured the attention of John Dramani Mahama, who, as the NDC’s presidential candidate at the time, incorporated the notion of recovering stolen state assets into his campaign platform. This move helped reinforce the NDC's commitment to holding NPP officials accountable for alleged corruption, positioning the party as a strong proponent of governance reform and transparency.
The journalist's remarks shed new light on the formation of political narratives and suggest that campaign strategies can sometimes be shaped by unexpected sources, raising questions about the intricate influences behind political messaging.
