Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu Accuses Rev. John Ntim Fordjour of Spreading Falsehoods Over Suspicious Aircraft Claims

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State responsible for Government Communications, has accused Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee, of deliberately spreading false information regarding the alleged landing of “suspicious aircraft” at Kotoka International Airport.

This statement follows an invitation extended to Fordjour to assist in investigations surrounding claims he made about two aircraft—AirMed Flight N823AM and Cavok Air Antonov An-12B—allegedly involved in transporting cocaine and cash into the country. The accusations led President John Dramani Mahama to order a probe into the matter.

On Thursday, April 3, Ofosu addressed the situation, claiming that Fordjour had distanced himself from his earlier statements. Fordjour now asserts that the claims were not his personal views but were instead the position of the committee he represented.

Ofosu remarked, "I can report that, after being invited to assist with investigations, he is now claiming that the views expressed were not his own, but those of the committee. As a result, he now says he is unwilling to cooperate with the security agencies."

The Minister strongly criticized Fordjour’s actions, deeming the claims unfounded and aimed at undermining public trust in the government. "He was spreading falsehoods because the actual facts contradict the allegations he made. His intent was clearly to damage the confidence the people of Ghana have in this government," Ofosu stated.

This development has sparked further concern about the impact of misinformation on public perception and the credibility of government institutions.
