Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club's head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has admitted that he was taken by surprise when right-back Adrian Adjetey scored the match-winning goal in their recent Ghana Premier League clash against Berekum Chelsea.
In his post-match press conference, Dr. Ogum shared his thoughts on the game, which saw Adjetey's powerful strike in the 79th minute secure a 1-0 win for Kotoko. Despite a challenging and closely contested match, the coach expressed his astonishment at the unlikely source of the goal.
"It was a difficult game, and to be honest, I never anticipated the winning goal coming from him," Ogum remarked. "That's the nature of football—sometimes, goals and creativity emerge from unexpected places. I’m delighted for him, and I hope this serves as motivation for him to continue performing at a high level."
The victory propelled Kotoko to the top of the Ghana Premier League standings, with a slim one-point lead over Bibiani Gold Stars, both teams now sitting on 44 points after 24 matches.
