Veteran New Patriotic Party (NPP) politician and former presidential aspirant, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, has emphasized the need for inclusive leadership and greater grassroots involvement within the party. Speaking at the NPP National Delegates Conference held at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday, July 19, 2025, Dr. Apraku underscored the importance of broad-based participation in shaping the party’s future.
He stressed that the NPP’s success in the current political environment depends on empowering members at all levels and fostering collaborative decision-making.
“We need to involve more people in our decision-making processes and equip them to implement these decisions effectively,” he said. “When people understand the rationale behind policies, they are more likely to support and execute them. In politics, everyone is needed. People must feel indispensable—as if without them, the system cannot function.”
Drawing on his extensive experience within the party, Dr. Apraku described the upcoming 2024 presidential campaign as uniquely challenging, shaped by complex political and economic dynamics.
“This election is unlike any we’ve experienced before. The conditions we are dealing with now are completely different from anything in the past,” he noted.
He called for a strategic reset, urging the party to reconnect with its core principles and focus on addressing the real needs of the Ghanaian people.
“It’s time to go back to the basics. We need to rediscover how to get closer to Ghanaians and understand what they truly want,” Dr. Apraku stated. “Politics is about responding to the will of the people, not personal agendas.”
His message resonates at a critical moment for the NPP, as it works to rebuild internal cohesion and re-establish its relevance ahead of the 2024 general elections.
