NDC Urges NPP to Embrace Unity and Seek Guidance from Former Presidents

 

At the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Delegates Conference on Saturday, July 19, 2025, held at the University of Ghana Stadium, Ludwig Hlordze, Director of Logistics and Protocol for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), delivered a message of goodwill and encouragement to the NPP.

Hlordze urged the NPP to prioritize unity and actively engage its experienced leaders—particularly the two living former presidents associated with the party. He emphasized that their insights could play a crucial role in strengthening the NPP’s internal cohesion and strategic direction.

“We hope that after this conference, your party will fully recognize the value of having two former presidents among you. Regularly consulting them will only strengthen your party. Do not sideline them,” Hlordze said.

He stressed that cultivating unity and leveraging seasoned leadership are key ingredients for building a credible and effective opposition.

“They need you, and you need them—to create a resilient front. Our hope is that you emerge from this conference more united than divided,” he added.

Reflecting on the wider political context, Hlordze described Ghana as being in a “reset phase,” calling on all political parties to re-examine their policies and strategies in light of the country’s evolving needs.

He acknowledged the NPP’s efforts to reflect and reorganize, noting their importance in ensuring a robust and responsible democratic process.

“We commend the NPP, as the largest opposition party, for taking steps toward introspection and reform. Your role is essential in providing constructive criticism and contributing to Ghana’s renewal under the leadership of John Mahama.”

Concluding his remarks, Hlordze called on all political leaders to rise above partisan interests and work toward building a lasting democratic legacy.

“As political leaders, our duty is to create a democracy that offers opportunity, justice, and sustainable growth. Let’s work together to reform our institutions and build a just, prosperous Ghana for ourselves and future generations,” he said.
