Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that the club is still actively pursuing potential signings as the summer transfer window nears its end.
The Gunners have already invested around £190 million this summer, bringing in six new faces: Viktor Gyökeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Nørgaard, Cristhian Mosquera, and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. Yet, Arteta suggests that Arsenal’s transfer business may not be done.
“We’re keeping an eye on the market,” Arteta said. “Let’s see how the squad evolves over the next few weeks. There may be departures as well, so we’re staying flexible.”
Arsenal wrapped up their pre-season campaign with an impressive 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao, thanks to goals from Gyökeres, Bukayo Saka, and Kai Havertz. Arteta expressed his satisfaction with both the team’s performance and the early impact of the summer arrivals.
“I’m pleased with what I’m seeing,” he said. “There were some standout performances against a side that competes at Champions League level. It’s encouraging.
“Gyökeres’s goal was a big moment, and the way he finished it was excellent.”
Arteta also highlighted the growing chemistry between the new signings and the existing squad, singling out Kai Havertz for his strong showing.
“We’re starting to see real connections forming on the pitch. Kai’s goal was a great example of that.”
Arsenal’s tactical setup has also seen a noticeable shift in pre-season, adopting a more direct playing style—a move that plays to Gyökeres’s strengths.
“That’s who he is as a player,” Arteta explained. “His timing, movement, and awareness of space make him a constant threat. He’s capable of pinning back defenders, winning one-on-ones, and opening up opportunities for others. He’s going to be vital in the final third.”
With the Premier League campaign just around the corner, Arsenal remain active in the transfer market while continuing to refine their evolving tactical identity.
