Ghana Police Thwart Robbery in Obuasi; One Suspect Arrested After Pursuit


 

The Ghana Police Service has successfully foiled a robbery attempt along the Tutuka-Akrofuom road in Obuasi, located in the Ashanti Region. This outcome was made possible through the swift and coordinated efforts of the Obuasi Divisional Command.

In a statement released on the Ghana Police Service’s official Facebook page, officers responded promptly to a distress call regarding a robbery in progress. Upon arrival at the scene, the suspects—believed to be a gang of armed robbers—abandoned two unregistered motorbikes and a machete before fleeing into the surrounding bush.

A dramatic chase ensued, resulting in the arrest of one suspect, identified as Pascal Yenkye. He sustained a gunshot wound to his leg while attempting to escape on a motorbike and is currently receiving medical treatment under police guard.

A manhunt is ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects who managed to evade capture.

The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order, while also encouraging citizens to remain vigilant and cooperative in supporting crime prevention efforts.
