Kofi Ofosu Nkansah Urges Kennedy Agyapong Supporters to Acknowledge Shared Responsibility for NPP’s 2024 Election Loss

Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has advised supporters of Kennedy Agyapong to stop blaming Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia solely for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general elections.

In a social media post, Ofosu Nkansah emphasized that Kennedy Agyapong himself has acknowledged the party’s loss as early as 2022, attributing it to the ongoing economic challenges in the country at the time. According to Nkansah, this admission implies that even if Agyapong had been elected as the party’s flagbearer, the outcome would likely have remained the same.

“If Hon. Ken admits we lost the election in 2022, then it simply means that even if he had won the primaries, we would have still lost,” Nkansah wrote. “His followers should stop blaming Dr. Bawumia for our defeat. The loss was a result of our collective actions—not merely the choice of our candidate.”

Nkansah further argued that Kennedy Agyapong was not detached from the governance of the NPP administration. He noted that Agyapong held a significant role as the Board Chairman of Ghana Gas, one of the country’s largest state-owned enterprises, while his wife also served as a board chairperson.

“Ken’s supporters should stop claiming he was not part of the government. He had more influence than 99% of NPP appointees—even in the first term when he had no official appointment,” Nkansah stated. “Even I, as the head of a relatively small agency, wouldn’t say I wasn’t part of the government.”

He concluded his post by urging the party faithful to be honest about their roles and responsibilities, rather than isolating individuals to assign blame.
