British light-heavyweight boxer Joshua Buatsi has officially signed a promotional deal with Queensberry Promotions, marking a new chapter in his professional career.
The 32-year-old fighter, who most recently competed in February—suffering his first professional loss to Callum Smith—has parted ways with Ben Shalom’s Boxxer to join Frank Warren’s renowned promotional team.
“After speaking with multiple promoters, Queensberry has a plan I’m comfortable with,” Buatsi said. “I’m a British fighter, and the support I get from UK fans means everything. There’s nothing like fighting in front of a home crowd – the energy, the passion, it drives me. With Queensberry, I’ve got a team that understands that and backs me properly here in the UK.”
Buatsi's former promotional partner, Boxxer, is reportedly in the process of ending its partnership with broadcaster Sky Sports, leaving uncertainty around the company’s future broadcasting platform.
Despite his recent defeat, Buatsi remains one of Britain’s top light-heavyweight contenders, holding a professional record of 19 wins and 1 loss. A 2016 Rio Olympics bronze medalist, Buatsi continues to be in the mix for a world title opportunity.
Queensberry’s Frank Warren expressed confidence in Buatsi’s potential, noting his long-standing link to a possible bout with Anthony Yarde, another prominent British light-heavyweight under the Queensberry banner.
Yarde is scheduled to face David Benavidez for the WBC world title on November 22 in Saudi Arabia. Warren hinted that Buatsi could be in line to challenge the winner.
“Josh will be a natural candidate to take on the winner,” Warren stated.
Buatsi’s move to Queensberry means he has now worked with all major UK boxing promotions, having launched his pro career with Matchroom Boxing.
