Manhyia Palace Intervened to Secure Paul Adom-Otchere’s Release from Detention

Renowned broadcast journalist and former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airport Company, Paul Adom-Otchere, has publicly acknowledged the crucial role the Manhyia Palace played in securing his release from detention.

Adom-Otchere had been detained by the Office of the Special Prosecutor after failing to meet his bail conditions, spending the night in custody before being released on Friday, August 1, 2025.

In a video shared on the Good Morning Ghana platform shortly after his release, Adom-Otchere revealed that numerous individuals and institutions made calls on his behalf to facilitate his bail. Among the most influential was the Manhyia Palace in the Ashanti Region.

According to him, senior chiefs and high-ranking officials at Manhyia actively intervened, applying pressure on the system to ensure his release.

“To the Chiefs—Gyeke, the Ejisu Manhene—and the senior officials of the Manhyia Palace who put pressure on the system, insisting that I be released, I cannot thank you enough,” he stated. “I’ll be coming to Kumasi to express my gratitude in person. Adenta Kumi, I know you’re at Manhyia and I believe you played a part. Even as a young man, I’m sure you urged your superiors to intervene.”

Adom-Otchere’s expression of gratitude underscores the significant influence Manhyia continues to wield in national affairs.
