Mother of Late Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah Shares Heartbreaking Tribute After GAF Helicopter Crash

 

The mother of Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah, one of the eight soldiers who tragically lost their lives in the recent Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) helicopter crash, has broken her silence, offering a deeply emotional tribute to her late son.

In an interview with NDA Media, she recounted the painful days leading up to his death. She remembered vividly the moment her daughter-in-law broke down in tears after learning that Sergeant Addo-Mensah had been assigned to accompany high-ranking officers on a military operation.

Sergeant Addo-Mensah had only just begun a new chapter in his life—he was recently married, and the family had spent just one week with his new wife following the ceremony. He had also secured a U.S. visa and was preparing to resign from the military in pursuit of a fresh start abroad. Tragically, those dreams were cut short only weeks after his wedding, leaving behind a grieving young widow and devastated family.

His mother shared that the trauma has been so unbearable that she has been unable to watch the graphic footage showing the charred remains of her son and the seven other fallen soldiers being retrieved from the crash site in cocoa sacks.
