PIAC Elects Richard Ellimah as New Chair for 2025-2026 Term

The Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) has elected Richard Ellimah, a Natural Resource Governance Analyst and Community Activist, as its new Chair for the 2025–2026 term.

Mr. Ellimah, who represents Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) within the Committee, was elected on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, succeeding Constantine K. M. Kudzedzi.

Upon his election, Mr. Ellimah expressed his gratitude to the members for their trust and support. He emphasized his commitment to building upon the strong foundation established by his predecessors and advancing the PIAC’s mission of promoting transparency and accountability in the management and utilization of Ghana’s petroleum revenues.

With nearly two decades of experience in natural resource governance and civil society advocacy in Ghana, Mr. Ellimah brings extensive expertise to his new role.

In the same meeting, Biomedical Scientist Edward Yaw Afriyie, representing the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), was elected Vice Chairperson for a one-year term, succeeding Odeefuo Amoakwa Boadu VIII.

Additionally, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Samuel Arkhurst, Coordinating Director, Technical, at the Ministry of Finance, administered the oath of office to five new members of PIAC on behalf of the Minister.

The newly appointed members are:

* Christopher Opoku Nyarko – Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI)

* Sena Dake – Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG)

* Zamboanga Rufai Saminu – Ghana Journalists Association (GJA)

* Veronica Adigbo – Ghana Bar Association (GBA)

* Nana Soglo Alloh IV – National House of Chiefs

The appointments mark an important step in strengthening the committee’s capacity to oversee the management of the country's petroleum revenues.
