Abeiku Aggrey Santana, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, has made serious allegations against Arianna Mackey, a Black American woman who previously claimed to have been kidnapped by officers of the Ghana Police Service. According to Santana, Mackey was paid to stage the incident.
In an interview, Santana explained that when the video of Mackey’s claim surfaced, the presidency immediately took action and forwarded the video to the relevant authorities. However, by the time the police were contacted, national security was already investigating the matter.
“She came to Ghana and stayed at the Kempinski Hotel. We have her data, including her address and flight dates. After the initial video, the pressure she faced led her to release a follow-up video, admitting that she was paid to create this false narrative,” Santana revealed.
He further explained that after deleting the first video, Mackey posted a second one, clarifying that she had been compensated to spread a negative image of Ghana and its security services.
“This was clearly a setup,” Santana remarked. “She came with an agenda. The fact that she deleted the first video and later released another one shows that this was all part of a planned scheme."
Santana expressed concern over the damage caused to Ghana's reputation, especially regarding the country’s tourism and the popular "Detty December" events. He urged Ghanaians to shift the narrative and highlight the positive aspects of the country to attract more visitors.
