Fire Devastates Boys’ Dormitory at Kadjebi-Asato SHS, Leaving Students Exhausted

A devastating fire broke out on the morning of December 2, 2025, in one of the boys' dormitories at Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School in the Oti Region, destroying a room and leaving many students physically drained as they tried to save their belongings.

The fire is believed to have started around 9 a.m., rapidly consuming everything inside the room and causing significant damage to the roofing structure. Despite efforts to contain the blaze, the fire completely destroyed the contents of the affected room.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) faced considerable challenges in responding to the incident, as the fire truck stationed in the Kadjebi district was out of service. As a result, personnel had to rely on limited alternative methods to combat the flames.

The fire caused widespread panic among students, with several collapsing from exhaustion and anxiety while attempting to control the fire and evacuate nearby rooms. School authorities, along with local community members, quickly intervened to provide assistance and ensure that the affected students received the necessary medical care.

The school and the surrounding community are currently working to assess the full extent of the damage and offer support to those affected by this tragic incident.
