Kufuor Emphasises Unity as Essential to NPP’s Future Success

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prioritise unity, stressing that it remains fundamental to the party’s long-term success and its ability to govern effectively.

Speaking in an interview on The Delay Show, hosted by Deloris Frimpong Manso, Mr. Kufuor encouraged party members to set aside internal divisions and rally behind the shared principles and ideals that define the NPP.

“Unity is key to the NPP’s future progress. We may not all be close friends or allies, but because we believe in the party’s principles and ideals, it is important that we unite to push the party forward,” he stated.

He explained that unity within the party is not only critical for winning elections but also for governing the country with stability and credibility. According to him, Ghanaians value cohesive leadership and are more likely to trust a united party with national responsibility.

“Ghanaians appreciate unity. We will be able to serve them better if we remain united when given the opportunity to lead,” he added.

Mr. Kufuor’s comments come at a pivotal moment, as the NPP continues efforts to reform and re-energise its base following its defeat in the 2024 general elections. The party is expected to elect its flagbearer in January 2026 as part of its reorganisation process.

His call for unity underscores ongoing discussions about reconciliation, discipline, and strategic rebuilding within the party as it prepares for the next electoral cycle.
