Nigerian Actress Doris Ogala Threatens Legal Action Against Pastor Chris Okafor Over Marriage Dispute

Nigerian actress Doris Ogala has issued a pre-action notice to Pastor Chris Okafor, the founder of Grace Nation Ministry, accusing him of breaching a marriage promise after marrying another woman. The actress claims that Okafor had been in a relationship with her since 2017 and had made clear promises to marry her before recently marrying someone else.

The pre-action notice follows the circulation of videos that showed Okafor’s engagement and wedding, which surfaced online over the past week. According to Ogala, the pastor initiated a relationship with her during a difficult time in her previous marriage, and she alleges that he made “clear, consistent, and unequivocal” promises of marriage. She further claims that she left her former marriage at Okafor’s insistence, believing in his commitment.

In a letter dated December 16, Ogala’s lawyers have accused the pastor of causing her serious emotional and psychological distress, including leading her to have suicidal thoughts. The letter also alleges harassment, financial exploitation, and the unauthorized release of explicit photos by Okafor.

Ogala claims to have entrusted Okafor with ₦45 million and used her personal funds to support his ministry and associates, including securing a contract for them. However, she asserts that she was not fully reimbursed for these expenses. The actress states that Okafor's actions have caused significant reputational and psychological harm.

The pre-action notice demands ₦1 billion in damages and gives Okafor 21 days to respond. If he fails to do so, Ogala’s legal team warns they will pursue further legal action.
