Sophia Momodu, the mother of Davido’s daughter and a public figure in her own right, has once again urged fans and content creators to stop referring to her as the Afrobeat star’s wife, stressing that she has moved on from the relationship.
Speaking during a recent live session, Sophia recounted an encounter with a content creator who excitedly called out to her, referring to her as “Mama Imade, OBO’s wife.” She said the remark made her uncomfortable and compelled her to correct the narrative.
According to her, she immediately dismissed the comment, saying it was a case of mistaken identity and emphasizing that the label did not apply to her.
Sophia explained that such comments disregard personal boundaries and undermine individual growth. She appealed to the public to respect people’s choices, noting that everyone involved has moved on and is at peace.
“Let’s not do that. Let’s respect people’s boundaries and personal rules. If people have moved on, allow them to move on. Everyone is at peace,” she said.
Her remarks have since sparked conversations online about respect, identity, and the tendency to define women by their past relationships. While many social media users supported her stance and urged the public to let her live her life freely, others offered differing opinions, with some suggesting her comments reflected lingering emotions.
Meanwhile, Davido is married to his longtime partner, Chioma Rowland, with whom he shares a set of twins.
Sophia Momodu’s message remains clear and firm: she seeks respect, peace, and the freedom to live her life without being continually tied to a past relationship.
