Afia Schwarzenegger Alleges Cause of Daddy Lumba’s Death and Burial Location, Sparks Public Debate

Controversial Ghanaian comedienne and media personality Afia Schwarzenegger has made fresh allegations regarding the death and burial of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, days after his funeral in Kumasi.

In a video circulating on social media, Afia claimed to know the exact cause of the musician’s death as well as the location of his burial, statements that have since generated mixed reactions among the public.

Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away at the Bank Hospital in Cantonments, Accra, on July 26, 2025, at the age of 60 after a short illness. His funeral service, held in Kumasi, was attended by several prominent figures, including Nana Acheampong, Dr Osei Kwame Despite, Dr Ernest Ofori Sarpong, Kennedy Agyapong (Kenpong), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Chairman Wontumi, Lil Win, and Dr Frank Amoakohene.

Family members present at the funeral included Daddy Lumba’s children, his younger sister Faustina Fosu, the family head (Abusuapanin) Victor Kofi Owusu Banahene, and his second wife, Odo Broni. However, some close relatives—among them his elder sister Ernestina Fosu, his first wife Akosua Serwaa, and evangelist Papa Shee—were notably absent due to an ongoing family dispute over funeral arrangements and related court cases.

Following the funeral, speculation intensified on social media about the musician’s final resting place. Addressing these rumours during a TikTok Live session on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, Afia Schwarzenegger alleged that Daddy Lumba was buried at his residence in East Legon, Accra, in accordance with his final wishes.

She further claimed that the late musician died from cardiac arrest, responding to questions about the autopsy report. According to Afia, she had previously advised the family head to publicly disclose the cause of death to curb speculation.

Her comments have added to existing tensions surrounding Daddy Lumba’s family, particularly an ongoing legal battle involving his first wife, Akosua Serwaa. Serwaa filed a lawsuit against the family head and Odo Broni, seeking to be declared the sole legal surviving spouse and to prevent Odo Broni—known privately as Priscilla Ofori—from being recognised as Daddy Lumba’s wife.

After several weeks of hearings, the Kumasi High Court dismissed Serwaa’s request. Presiding judge Justice Dorinda Smith ruled that Serwaa failed to prove she was the only legal wife of the deceased, while Odo Broni successfully demonstrated that she was married to Daddy Lumba under customary law. The court directed that both women be recognised as his spouses and permitted to perform widowhood rites. Dissatisfied with the ruling, Serwaa has since filed an appeal at the Court of Appeal.

Afia Schwarzenegger’s allegations have continued to fuel public debate online, with social media users expressing confusion over the varying accounts of Daddy Lumba’s death and questioning the lack of official clarity from the family.

As discussions persist, the late highlife icon’s legacy remains overshadowed by controversy, legal disputes, and unanswered questions surrounding his final days.
