Two Female Prison Officers Killed in Akuse Road Accident


 

The Akuse District Police Command has launched an investigation into the tragic deaths of two female prison officers following a road accident on Saturday, December 6, 2025.


The collision occurred between the Akuse Junction and VRA Junction in Akuse township, but the exact cause of the accident remains unclear.


The two female officers, who were in a Toyota Corolla with registration number GS 4817-17, died at the scene. Two male prison officers who were also in the vehicle sustained multiple fractures. They were initially taken to the Akuse Government Hospital but were later transferred to St. Joseph Hospital in Koforidua due to the severity of their injuries.


The news of the accident has deeply shaken staff at the Akuse Local Prison in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality. As they mourn the loss of their colleagues, many are also praying for the swift recovery of the injured officers still receiving treatment in Koforidua.


The authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident and the circumstances surrounding the crash.
