EC Dismisses Allegations of Irregularities in NPP Primaries, Assures Transparency

The Electoral Commission (EC) has rejected claims by New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong suggesting irregularities in the transportation of ballot papers ahead of the party’s presidential primaries.

Fred Tetteh, Deputy Director of Research at the Electoral Commission, described the allegations as unfounded and without factual basis. Speaking on Top Story, Mr. Tetteh firmly denied the claims, stating that the information being circulated does not reflect the reality on the ground.

“There is no iota of truth in what has been circulating. That is all I can say for now,” he said in response to concerns raised by the NPP aspirant.

Kennedy Agyapong had earlier raised questions about the movement of election materials, suggesting that it could compromise the integrity of the internal party election. However, the EC has assured all stakeholders that the process remains secure and credible.

Mr. Tetteh emphasized that the Commission has completed all necessary preparations and is fully ready to supervise the primaries in accordance with established electoral standards.

“Everything is set for tomorrow. All officials are ready, and the Commission will deliver a professional job,” he stated.

He further assured that the EC would execute its mandate impartially and transparently.

“We will conduct the election fairly and carry out our responsibilities with integrity and transparency,” Mr. Tetteh added.

The Electoral Commission has therefore urged party members and the general public to remain calm and confident in the integrity of the electoral process.
