Greater Accra Did This For Late MP From Ayawaso


 

The Greater Accra Region has been plunged into mourning following the death of Mahama Toure Naser, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso East Constituency. Popularly known as Mac Naza, the 60-year-old lawmaker passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after a brief illness.

The late MP’s funeral is scheduled for Monday, January 5, 2026, following Janazah prayers at the National Mosque in Kanda.

Family, Colleagues, and Friends Gather to Mourn

Upon the announcement of his passing, family, friends, and political colleagues visited his residence to offer condolences. Videos circulating on social media showed prominent members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) mourning alongside the bereaved family.

Alhassan Suhuyini – MP for Tamale South

Yusif Jajah, whose constituency borders Ayawaso East, shared details of the late MP’s funeral arrangements: “God willing, prayers will be observed tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. at his constituency office on Kanda Highway. From there, he will be laid to rest at the Madina Cemetery.”

Alhassan Suhuyini described Mahama Naser Toure as a “big brother” and expressed deep sadness over his passing. Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, who served alongside Mac Naza as a fourth-term MP, called his death “shocking” and assured that the party would support his widow and children. “We thank Allah for his life and for everything he contributed. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” she said.

Funeral and Legacy

The mortal remains of Mahama Naser Toure were brought to his residence in Accra on January 4, 2026. He is remembered for his unwavering dedication to his constituents and his service in Ghana’s Parliament.

The passing of Mahama Naser Toure comes shortly after the death of Ernest Kumi, the Akwatia MP, who died in July 2025 at the age of 40 following a brief illness.
