Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has opened up about his evolving views on relationships, revealing that financial success alone was not enough to sustain his past romantic experiences.
In a candid interview with Jay On-Air TV, the actor admitted that he once placed excessive importance on money as the foundation of a successful relationship. However, with time and personal growth, his perspective has significantly changed.
According to Timini, while financial stability remains important, it is far from the most crucial element in a healthy partnership. He emphasized that relying solely on wealth reflects emotional shallowness.
“Money still matters, but I’ve learned that it’s only one part of the equation. If the only thing you bring into a relationship is money, then you’re not offering much,” he said.
The actor explained that qualities such as emotional availability, intentional communication, active listening, and genuine presence play a far greater role in sustaining meaningful relationships than financial provision alone.
Timini further noted that in metropolitan cities like Lagos—where financial comfort is increasingly common—wealth no longer stands out as a defining factor in romantic connections.
Reflecting on his own experiences, he admitted that poor communication was the major reason his previous relationship did not last. He attributed this shortcoming to his demanding work schedule and a mindset that, at the time, prioritized personal interests over emotional responsibility.
The actor concluded by stating that his outlook on love has matured, adding that he now has a deeper understanding of what commitment and partnership truly require.
His remarks have since sparked widespread discussion online, with many social media users agreeing that emotional presence and effective communication are often lacking in modern relationships.
