Finance Minister Inaugurates New Ghana Revenue Authority Board with Mandate to Boost Domestic Revenue
The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has officially inaugurated a newly constituted nine-member Board of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), tasking the members with enhancing domestic revenue mobilization and upholding integrity within the Authority.
The Board is chaired by Hon. George Ricketts Hagan, a former Deputy Minister of Finance and the current Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South. The remaining members comprise a mix of seasoned public officials and technocrats, including the Commissioner-General of the GRA, Mr. Anthony Sarpong.

In his remarks, Dr. Forson highlighted the pivotal role the GRA plays in ensuring Ghana's economic resilience. He emphasized that the success of government policies and development programs is closely tied to the Authority’s ability to mobilize revenue effectively.
He called on the new board to demonstrate commitment and integrity in the discharge of their duties. He also stressed the need for urgent and effective strategies to combat smuggling and other forms of revenue leakage, particularly at Ghana’s borders.
“We must look within and raise domestic revenue to finance our national development agenda,” Dr. Forson stated, adding that greater fiscal discipline and the efficient use of internal resources are critical to sustaining the country’s economic recovery.
The inauguration comes amid renewed efforts by the government to meet ambitious revenue targets in the context of broader economic stabilization measures.
