Sir Alex Ferguson Warns It Could Take Manchester United 10 Years to Win the Premier League Again

Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has warned that it may take the club up to a decade to win the Premier League again, reflecting on their current struggles.

Ferguson, who guided United to 13 Premier League titles during his illustrious career at Old Trafford, had the club surpass Liverpool in league titles, making them the most successful team in English football for many years. However, since his retirement in 2013, Liverpool has caught up, winning two more titles, including last season’s under manager Arne Slot.

Speaking in Bahrain to Press Box PR, Ferguson praised current United boss Ruben Amorim but made a sobering assessment of the club’s title prospects.

### Ferguson’s Stark Assessment

"He [Amorim] is a good personality. It’s not easy," Ferguson said, referring to the challenges facing the current manager. Reflecting on his own time at the club, Ferguson drew comparisons to Liverpool’s long wait for a league title, recalling that the Merseyside club went 31 years without winning the league (it was 30 years in reality) before finally securing it in 2020.

Ferguson continued, “We are now in the same situation. It could take ten years, maybe eleven, because of that cycle. It has to be thought out carefully, and we must ensure recruitment improves from where it was.”

### United’s Current Struggles

Manchester United are currently sitting sixth in the Premier League table, and their next fixture is a tough challenge against Aston Villa on Sunday, December 21. The club's fans will be hoping that the team can build momentum under Amorim, but Ferguson’s comments suggest that a title challenge may remain out of reach for the foreseeable future.
