Counselor Frank Edem Adofoli has praised Nana Ama McBrown for her emotional maturity and composure following the public confirmation of her divorce from Maxwell Mensah after 14 years of marriage.
In a post shared on Facebook, Adofoli reflected on McBrown's live television interview, where she spoke openly about the end of her marriage. He noted that McBrown's calm and dignified tone was a clear sign of healing, rather than lingering pain. “She explained that she has healed, which makes it easier for her to talk about the divorce with a smile,” he shared.
Adofoli acknowledged that divorce, even when mutually agreed upon, is never easy. “They faced their own difficulties and challenges, and agreeing to divorce did not come without pain,” he said, emphasizing that emotional recovery from such a significant life event happens gradually over time.
The counselor pointed out that McBrown’s public demeanor did not mean she had avoided emotional distress. “Does this mean Nana Ama did not go through a painful phase? Of course, she did,” Adofoli remarked, adding that the key difference was in how she handled the situation.
He praised McBrown for opting to keep her emotions private rather than airing them on social media or through the media. “Despite rumors about struggles in her marriage, she did not use the media to vent her pain,” he noted, calling this restraint a true sign of maturity.
Adofoli further explained that emotions are fleeting, and it’s how one manages those emotions that reflects true maturity. “Emotions are temporary, and managing them with grace is what true maturity is all about,” he said.
The counselor concluded by encouraging compassion for individuals going through difficult life transitions. “Trauma, pain, and hurt go through stages, and each stage requires grace and support,” he said, offering a message of understanding for those dealing with personal struggles.
