Janet Nabla Criticizes Government for Shielding Corrupt Officials

Janet Nabla, Chairperson and Leader of the People’s National Party (PNP), has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of failing to fight corruption. According to Nabla, the government is protecting corrupt individuals while unfairly targeting opposition members.

Commenting on the ongoing Ken Ofori-Atta case, Nabla said:

“The way the NDC is handling this matter is shocking. Ken Ofori-Atta clearly indicated that he was unwell and offered to attend a Zoom meeting, yet the government continues to pursue him. The funds in question belong to all Ghanaians—not just those who voted for the ruling party. Treating public funds as personal property while claiming to fight corruption is unacceptable.”

She criticized what she described as selective prosecution:

“The same Attorney General scrutinizing Ofori-Atta allowed individuals owing over ten billion cedis to evade accountability, yet Ofori-Atta is being pursued for 1.4 billion. This is not about fighting corruption; it is about shielding allies and targeting political opponents. If this were genuine anti-corruption action, the government would have accepted the Zoom meeting he offered.”

Nabla concluded that the NDC lacks the moral authority to claim it is fighting corruption while protecting its own allies.
