Former President John Dramani Mahama has reassured residents of the Chain Homes community that despite his busy schedule, he and his family remain approachable and part of the neighbourhood.
During a recent address to the community, Mahama acknowledged that his public duties often keep him away from the estate, particularly on weekends. He shared, “There’s hardly a weekend when I’m around while everyone is resting.” However, he encouraged residents not to feel distant or intimidated by the security measures around his home.
“Don’t be intimidated by the soldiers and all that,” he said. “We’re neighbours.” Mahama emphasized that he is always open to meeting with residents whenever possible, noting that some have already taken the opportunity to visit him. “A few of you have been coming over. We share some drinks,” he added with a smile.
In closing, Mahama expressed gratitude to the residents for their continued support and friendship, encouraging them to maintain the spirit of neighbourliness. “Let’s continue to enjoy this good neighbourliness,” he said. “You’re all welcome.”
Mahama also took the chance to clarify rumours regarding his ownership of the Chain Homes estate, stating, “This is not my estate, but I’m happy to be part of this wonderful community.”
