Missing Tiger Located as Wildfires Ravage Panthera Africa Sanctuary in Stanford

Firefighting teams continue to battle persistent wildfires in the Overstrand region of the Western Cape, as flare-ups threaten communities, wildlife, and conservation areas. Among the areas affected is the Panthera Africa Big Cat Sanctuary near Stanford, where a missing tiger has now been safely located.

The fire, driven by dry conditions and shifting winds, tore through parts of the sanctuary, raising serious concerns about the safety of staff and animals. Emergency services, conservation workers, and volunteers worked under challenging conditions to contain the blaze and secure the animals.

Authorities confirmed that the tiger, which was temporarily unaccounted for during the chaos of evacuations and fire containment efforts, has been found alive. Sanctuary officials expressed relief at the outcome, noting that protocols were swiftly activated to monitor and protect all animals on the property.

Firefighting operations remain ongoing in the Overstrand area, with teams closely monitoring weather conditions to prevent further flare-ups. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and to follow instructions issued by disaster management authorities.

The incident has once again highlighted the growing threat wildfires pose to both human settlements and conservation sites in the Western Cape, particularly during periods of extreme heat and dry weather.
