Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, the Onitsha-based cleric widely known as Prophet Odumeje, has declared 2026 a year of “kabush kabash” for his followers.
The proclamation was made during a crossover service at his church, where he described the coming year as one marked by intense spiritual encounters and unseen battles.
Addressing the congregation, Odumeje emphatically announced, “2026 is a year of kabush kabash,” a statement that drew loud reactions from worshippers. The phrase “kabush kabash,” now closely associated with the cleric, is a slang expression he frequently uses during moments of heightened spiritual emphasis. It has no direct English translation and is often uttered while he speaks in tongues, also known as glossolalia.
Throughout the service, Odumeje employed his signature dramatic gestures, including crossing his arms to form an “X” and raising two fingers—actions familiar to his followers. He told the congregation that although the year would involve numerous spiritual battles, he was fully prepared to confront them.
According to the cleric, he had already secured divine backing to fight on behalf of his followers. He urged them not to be afraid, insisting that the battles ahead were not theirs to fight.
“I know many will come, and I am ready for the battle,” he said. “Lift up your hands of destiny. The battle is not yours. I am ready to fight your war with my heavenly Father. From today, prepare the burials of your enemies one by one. I am a warlord. I have never lost a fight, and I can never lose a battle.”
Prophet Odumeje remains a controversial and polarising religious figure, widely known for his unconventional preaching style and bold claims of extraordinary spiritual authority. In 2024, he dismissed critics who questioned his abilities, describing himself as “a liquid metal.”
Despite ongoing debates surrounding his ministry, Odumeje continues to command a loyal following, with his declarations frequently generating widespread attention both within and beyond religious circles.
