Kwame Thomas Melega, the grandson of Ghana’s first president, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, has made a rare public appearance alongside his mother, Samia Nkrumah, drawing significant public and media attention.
The mother-and-son duo were among the notable guests at the final day of the 2026 Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD), held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). The annual forum, organised by the Africa Prosperity Network and founded by renowned lawyer Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, brought together political leaders, business executives, creatives, and policy influencers from across the African continent.
High-profile attendees at the event included Sophia Kudjordji, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Jospong Group of Companies and Senior Public Relations Officer for PKA Leadership; veteran gospel musician Diana Asamoah; Grammy Award-winning Nigerian artiste Mr Eazi; and Majority Leader of Parliament, Mahama Ayariga.

Samia Nkrumah opted for a refined look, wearing a green, blue, and white dress. Who Is Kwame Thomas Melega?
Kwame Thomas Melega is the only child of Samia Nkrumah, former Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and former Member of Parliament for the Jomoro Constituency, and her husband, Michele Melega. He is the grandson of Dr Kwame Nkrumah and Ghana’s former First Lady, Fathia Ritz Nkrumah.
Although little is publicly known about his personal life, reports suggest that Melega is involved in the creative arts as an actor and filmmaker, having appeared in a number of independent short films.
