Lady Regrets Ending Four-Year Relationship After Taking Friends’ Advice

A Nigerian woman has shared a deeply personal story about a relationship decision she now considers one of her biggest mistakes.

In a viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), the woman revealed that she ended a four-year relationship with a man who supported her throughout her university education, only to later realize she acted out of pressure rather than proper communication.

According to her account, she met the man during her second year in university. From that point until graduation, he remained consistently supportive. During difficult times, he paid her school fees, bought her mobile phones, and provided her with a monthly allowance to ease her financial burden.

Despite his commitment, she explained that her major concern was that he never explicitly discussed marriage. As graduation approached, pressure from friends and societal expectations to settle down began to influence her thinking.

Reflecting on her actions, she said:

“He was never perfect, but he was consistent. Instead of sitting him down to have an honest conversation about marriage, I began to feel like he was using me, even though he had always been there for me.”

Shortly after graduating, she ended the relationship and began seeing another man who openly talked about marriage and promised her a future abroad. Acting on advice from a friend, she admitted to lying about her genotype to justify ending the relationship.

“I told him I was AS so that we wouldn’t be compatible, even though I am AA,” she said. “Later, I discovered that the man I left him for was already married and had lied about everything. Now, I don’t even know how to explain the truth.”

Her confession has sparked widespread reactions online. Many social media users believe she allowed external pressure and friends’ opinions to influence a decision that should have been handled through honest communication. Others argue that a direct conversation about marriage might have saved the relationship.

Now filled with regret, the woman says she has learned a painful lesson—realizing too late that she may have walked away from something genuine in pursuit of promises that only sounded appealing.
