Antoine Semenyo Matches Kevin De Bruyne’s 2015 Milestone in Manchester City Win

Antoine Semenyo’s remarkable start to life at Manchester City continued on February 11, as the Ghanaian forward delivered a goal and an assist in a 3-0 Premier League victory over Fulham.

The performance not only helped Pep Guardiola’s side secure all three points but also saw Semenyo match a milestone previously set by club legend Kevin De Bruyne in 2015.

Signed for £64 million, the 26-year-old has adapted swiftly to the demands of Guardiola’s system. His goal against Fulham meant he became the first player to score in each of his first two home Premier League appearances for Manchester City since De Bruyne achieved the feat in October 2015. The Belgian reached that mark with goals against West Ham United and Newcastle United.

Matching a record associated with one of the most influential players in City’s modern era highlights the scale of Semenyo’s early impact. While equalling De Bruyne’s achievement is a notable milestone, sustaining such form over time will determine the full extent of his legacy at the Etihad Stadium.

Semenyo’s blend of pace, strength, and intelligent movement has added a new dimension to City’s attack. Beyond his statistical contributions, he has demonstrated tactical awareness—drifting centrally to link play and stretching defenses from wide areas. His versatility has enhanced City’s attacking structure, particularly in transition and in tight spaces around the penalty area.

The Ghana international now boasts five goals and two assists in just seven appearances for the reigning champions, underlining the efficiency of his start.

Records Broken Since Arrival

This is not Semenyo’s first entry into Manchester City’s record books. On his debut against Exeter City in the FA Cup, he registered both a goal and an assist, matching a feat previously achieved by Sergio Agüero. He also equalled Emmanuel Adebayor’s record of scoring in successive opening appearances and notched four goals in his first five matches.

Adding De Bruyne’s milestone to that list further cements what has been an impressive introduction to English football’s elite level.

New Premier League Record for a Ghanaian

In another historic achievement, Semenyo recently set a new record for the highest number of goals scored by a Ghanaian in a single Premier League season. His strike against Fulham moved him past the previous benchmark jointly held by Anthony Yeboah and André Ayew.

With confidence growing and form on his side, attention now turns to Manchester City’s upcoming FA Cup fixture against Salford on February 14, where Semenyo will have another opportunity to extend his extraordinary run.
