Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has refuted claims that he is estranged from his children with his first wife, May Edochie, stating that he remains actively involved in their lives despite ongoing divorce proceedings.
In recent months, speculation has circulated on social media suggesting that the actor had abandoned his children following the breakdown of his marriage. However, Edochie has firmly dismissed these claims, describing them as false and misleading.
Divorce Proceedings and Legal Constraints
According to reports, the divorce process between Yul and May Edochie has experienced delays due to disagreements over key issues, including remarriage rights and allegations of adultery. These unresolved matters have reportedly prolonged the legal proceedings.
Addressing the issue during a recent podcast appearance, Edochie explained that legal restrictions tied to the divorce prevent him from publicly discussing or sharing content related to his children.
“I Am in Contact With My Children”
Edochie emphasized that he maintains regular communication with his children and continues to support them financially. He cited personal milestones, including his second son’s recent admission into the university and matriculation ceremony, as evidence of their ongoing relationship.
He also criticized the narratives circulating on social media, describing them as speculative and disconnected from the reality of his private life.
According to the actor, many critical family matters never reach the public eye, even though there is intense public interest in celebrity relationships. He noted that his decision to stop posting photos of his children online was not due to estrangement but a court order aimed at protecting their safety during the divorce proceedings.
Edochie further stated that much of the information shared online about his family has been exaggerated, adding that silence should not be mistaken for neglect or abandonment.
In his words, social media often represents only a fraction of the truth, while the most important aspects of people’s lives remain private.
