The Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North, Hon. Collins Adomako Mensah, has emphasized that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is fully aware of the challenges ahead as it prepares for the 2028 general elections, stressing that electoral victories are never guaranteed.

Speaking during an interview on Angel FM in Kumasi, the lawmaker dismissed suggestions that elections are easily won, describing such claims as a misunderstanding of political realities.

“No election is easy. Every election is a tough contest. Anyone who believes otherwise does not fully understand how politics works,” he stated.

Hon. Adomako Mensah explained that the party’s decision to select its presidential candidate early was a deliberate strategy aimed at giving the NPP sufficient time to reorganize, heal internal divisions, and build a strong campaign ahead of 2028.

According to him, the party’s immediate focus is on internal restructuring and reconciliation, a process he said would continue throughout the year and is expected to be concluded before year-end.

He expressed confidence that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would play a central role in leading the reconciliation efforts within the party. While acknowledging that the process would be challenging, he described it as essential for the party’s success.

“I believe Dr. Bawumia will handle the reconciliation process effectively. It will not be easy, but the advantage we have is time to plan, reflect, and strategize properly,” he noted.

The MP further clarified that the NPP does not take pleasure in the struggles of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), emphasizing that the party’s primary objective is to strengthen itself and secure victory in the next general election.
