Wontumi Congratulates Bawumia After NPP Flagbearer Victory Ahead of EC Declaration

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Wontumi, has congratulated Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on his victory in the party’s presidential flagbearer election, even before the official declaration by the Electoral Commission.

In a statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Secretariat, Mr. Boasiako acknowledged that the period following the 2024 general elections had been challenging for the party but emphasized that the NPP remains resilient, united, and committed to democratic principles.

“This process has demonstrated that the NPP is still a strong, democratic, and united political family,” he stated.

He called on party members across the country to focus on rebuilding the party and reconnecting with its grassroots support base, stressing the importance of honesty, discipline, unity, and hard work.

“We must rebuild, reconnect with our base, and restore the confidence of the Ghanaian people,” the statement said.

Mr. Boasiako urged party members to avoid blame and internal divisions, noting that the priority should now be preparing for victory in the 2028 general elections.

“Now is not the time for blame. This is the time to close ranks and focus on winning again in 2028,” he added.

He further appealed to NPP supporters nationwide to rally behind Dr. Bawumia and contribute to strengthening the party’s structures at all levels.

“For my part, I remain fully committed to supporting efforts to build a strong and effective grassroots structure for the party,” he concluded.
